07_Vergurla Rock India.jpg
Today celebrates one year exactly since we set foot on this lost island. Vengurla Rock, as the name suggests, is just a rock along the west coast of India near the famous city of Goa. The village has about a dozen houses which have been abandoned for many years. It is mystical. Bottles with milk are still on the shelves, but the roofs of the houses are collapsed. It is a ghost village but the island is not totally abandoned. On the north end of the rock is a small lighthouse maintained by two Indian coast guards. To our surprise this 100 year old lighthouse was recently refurbished and is now fully solar powered. I took the photo from the balcony of the lighthouse high above the horizon. Looking far at sea, I was astonished.
